Form factor of the Proxy: At first glance, the Proxy is very different from most concentrate vapes. It resembles neither a vape pen nor a classic electric rig. Instead, it is reminiscent of a Sherlock pipe from times gone by, like the ones you might have seen with your grandparents or in old movies. The glass is balanced and ergonomic in the hand and has a stable, flat base. But the special thing about the Proxy is not just its appearance or shape. It has a modular design:
The vape consists of two main components - the glass and the base. The glass serves as a giant mouthpiece, while the base contains all the electrical components, the battery, the one-button operation and the atomizer.
This clever modular design allows the base to be used with various compatible glass bodies from Puffco or third party suppliers. Puffco already offers the Bub, a glass pipe with water filtration.
This modular design opens up a wealth of personalization options and makes the Proxy one of the first vapes with an interchangeable heating element.
Heating element and 3D chamber of the Puffco Proxy: The Proxy uses Puffco's advanced 3D ceramic coils, where the heating wire is embedded into the walls of the coils.
In contrast to conventional coils, which draw their heat from below, the heat here comes from all directions. This heating system combined with precise temperature control prevents extracts from vaporizing before you draw and ensures consistent results.
Using the Proxy Vaporizer: The Proxy is a cold-load vape, which means it must be loaded before heating. You can use the included dab tool, which is helpful for crumbly and non-sticky extracts. However, for sticky extracts, we recommend using a "hot" loading tool such as the CrossingTech Mini Buddy HDT.
The tip heats up and melts the concentrate into the center of the coils instead of scraping it off the side walls of the chamber with the tool provided. Using the Hot Knife extends the life of the coils, prevents extract loss and increases efficiency. After you have filled the material into the chamber, put on the Carp Cap and press and hold the button for three seconds to activate the proxy. By pressing once, you can choose between four temperature settings, with blue being the lowest and white the highest.
Vapor quality: The vapor quality of the Proxy is impressive. Produces creamy, full flavor and terpenes. Unlike a vape pen, the Proxy has a large mouthpiece that allows the vapor to cool before it is inhaled. Excess heat is dissipated into the air instead of entering the mouthpiece or face, thanks to the proven design of traditional pipes.
The Proxy stays hot for around four to six puffs before switching off automatically. You can extend the session by double tapping the button. Extracts are currently the fastest growing category in vaporizing and the Proxy lowers the barrier to entry with ease of use. It is much more user-friendly than a rig and yet extremely versatile.
Battery life: The compact all-in-one shape of the Proxy also means a smaller battery. We managed about 5-6 sessions before the battery ran out. Charging takes about 60 minutes on average. However, the Proxy has a USB-C port, so charging is possible almost anywhere. By triple-clicking the button, the current battery level is indicated by a green, orange or red light.
